Derek was really getting tired of getting his ass kicked by the random supernatural beings scattered throughout Beacon Hills as if he was their own personal whipping boy. He was sick of being left with no choice but to rely on others in order to survive, sick of not controlling his own fate.

But Stiles?

Stiles really wasn’t sure how much longer he could keep watching Derek almost die, how much longer he would be able to stand only arriving at the very last second to save his life, before he cracked and spoiled everything by letting Derek know how much Stiles loved him.

But Stiles forgets that Derek is a werewolf, and has always known what Stiles felt for him because the erratic beating of Stiles’ heart told everything.

And the chirps in Stiles’ heartbeat are the only reason that Derek fights at all.
